Highway 5 Listening Session

12345

In December 2006, Cherokee County residents listened to selections from the Highway 5 project. Then we invited them into the conversation. With the leadership of Dave Winter (Keeping and Creating American Communities) we asked attendees to write about their insights about community and place, what they valued about it, how they understand it, and what they envision for its future. Residents were asked to write and reflect on the following:

  • What makes up a community? How is a community’s identity formed? How significant do you feel a sense of place is in determining the identity of this community? Explain.

  • How did this experience tonight help you understand community and place in Cherokee County?

  • If you are new to Cherokee County, describe what drew you to this place?

  • Describe Cherokee County as you see it 25 years from now.
